30th November 2025
Lifetime Achievement Award 2025
I am very surprised, delighted, proud and humbled to have won a Lifetime Achievement Award for my contribution to coaching and coaching supervision, at the Coaching at Work conference on 26th November 2025. It was such an honour, and at the end of another excellent, engaging, challenging and insightful conference. An award only names one person but there are so many people who have supported me over the years who have made my work possible. Too many to mention but I am grateful to and appreciate them all and know how much I owe them. You can find out more about the award here. The editor Liz Hall made the award, and she and publisher Professor Stephen Palmer are two people who have been instrumental in my development, with Liz accepting articles from me soon after I left the BBC, and Stephen giving me the opportunity to write my first book with him, which was a wonderful experience.
I want to add a special thank you to all the people I have worked with over the years, coachees, supervisees, writers and researchers. The challenge, passion, support and fun rubs off. And huge thanks to the brilliant member volunteers who now lead the CCA (Climate Coaching Alliance) and GSN (Global Supervisors’ Network) and to the wonderful collaborators in the SCC (Sustainability Coaching Coalition – formerly the JGSG, Joint Global Statement Group) which shows how 13 professional bodies can collaborate for a greater good. And I never forget how lucky I am to have a very supportive family: including my partner of over 40 years and my son.
