Remembering Dr Alison Whybrow
Ali was spectacular. Her death on February 27th, after a short and unexpected illness, has been a shock to her friends and colleagues, and we can only imagine how her family are managing. Ali was a skilful facilitator, coach, coaching pscyhologist, coach supervisor and consultant and had spent more than 20 years focusing on building individual and organizational capability. She was also a force of nature. Quite appropriate for someone whose life was dedicated to providing a legacy for future generations that cared for all beings and our Earth. Ali described herself as a possiblist, seeing disruption as a catalyst or transformation and hopeful that a kinder human-earth story can arise.
Ali, Dr Josie McLean and I set up the Climate Coaching Alliance together in November 2019, and from the 3 of us it has grown to 1900 following our recent 6-day Global Festival, with amazing volunteers and communities that she nurtured. She was, and will continue to be, an inspiration as to what is possible. The book we were writing together with Peter Hawkins, and are now just finishing so missing Ali’s input: Ecological and Climate-conscious Coaching: A Companion Guide to Evolving Coaching Practice is due out in September and will be dedicated to her.
